What I Wore: Lady Gaga Fashion Moments

On Friday night  I went to a show at my old High School called GaGaPalooza. It was a senior showcase for the drama club performing only Lady Gaga songs. The entire thing was run one of my best friends and it was awesome! I am so proud of him (Friday was also his 18th birthday). None of the pictures that I took of the event were any good, so I will try to post some good ones later!
This is what I wore: my interpretation of the "Just Dance" video outfit, plus a lobster mask that I made!
I was trying to copy this look:

I also had a blue lightening bolt on my face:
By the end of the night, the blue makeup was smeared and my hair was ridiculous and I felt like Gaga in the "Just Dance" video (minus the whale humping) and I really believed for a moment that maybe I secretly was Lady Gaga....fun times.

While I was trying to figure out what to wear, I made a folder of some of my favorite Lady Gaga fashion moments ever. Here are a few:

And, to go out with a bang!

What's inspiring you?

Let's Have Some Fun, This Beat is Sick

Happy Friday!  Today I have got some Things I Love This Week, and also some Link Lovin' for you guys!

Things I Love!

Being home! I love seeing my family and hometown friends, eating and hanging out at Weir's (an ice cream place), being able to split my time hanging out in NYC and in the pretty Hudson Valley, and enjoying my summer.  The time is flying by already!

being healthy! Last Thursday was my first full day at home, so I woke up early (okay, it was at noon, but whatever) and went to the gym with my best friend. I have a membership to Gold's Gym in Newburgh, NY, and let me tell you: that place is amazing. It is giant and has everything you could possibly need. When I got home I made a fruit smoothie and sat outside in the sun with my dog.  Great day much?

♥ This Alexander McQueen Eyes ad that was in W magazine this month:

♥ Looking at pictures of crazy hair

♥ Treats! My friends at school gave me all kinds of delicious treats over the weekend. My roommate's parents got us a chocolate pizza from Max Brenner chocolate restaurant!

Link Lovin!

So Much Pun. If you read my blog regularly, or know me in person then you know what a complete sucker I am for puns. This website is absolute gold:

♥ The history of alternative hairstyles on Mookychick. Que interesting!

♥ Lauren on IFB asks, Are Bloggers Getting Stressed?

♥ The Periodic Table of Typefaces poster, and the So You Need a Typeface poster. Loooove ittttt. I am obsessed.

Hot Nerds Reading Comics! Very yes!

Tonight, I am going to a Lady Gaga themed senior showcase at my old High School. It is run by one of my best friends and features the seniors of the drama club, which I am a former Vice President of, haha! You better believe that I am dressing up, so stop by later for pictures! What are you loving this week?

Music Challenge: Mash Ups

I have been putting together a giant summer playlist, which I am totally addicted to. It is a mix of last year's summer playlist, and a whole bunch of new songs that I can't stop listening to at the moment. The only thing that all of the tracks have in common is that they put me in the summer mindset in some way.  The thing is, I'm going a little bit mash-up crazy.
I have a challenge for you guys: provide the soundtrack to my insanity by way of:
Mash-Ups. "a song or composition created by blending two or more songs, usually by overlaying the vocal track of one song seamlessly over the music track of another." (thanks wikipedia.)

Give me your tired, your poor, your mash-ups! What is your favorite?
Here's what I am listening to at the moment:
10 rad mashups

Get a playlist! Standalone player Get Ringtones

The best mash-ups I've heard have either Biggie or Daft Punk in them.
My favorite mash-up DJs are: Girl Talk (dancing in the Girl Talk crowd at Bamboozle was the highlight of the entire festival), Super Mash Bros., party Ben, and the awesome DJ Earworm.

Also:

Should I give the person who submits my favorite mash-up a prize? Should I have regular music challenges with prizes? Do you want more contests? Should I just shut up? (I'm not going to.)

Here are Some Things

Here's some stuff:

Doodles from class.  I did most of them while taking notes on James Bond:  Dr. No which we watched in English class!  We had to write a paper about the James Bond series' symbolism and gender studies. Greatest. Class.

Also: Happy Belated Mother's Day!
Here is a picture I drew of me and my Mama!

I have an art history final tomorrow. Wish me luck! Here's one of my favorite pieces:

Experiment on a Bird in the Air Pump by Joseph Wright.

Time to get back to studying. Goodnight!

Diesel Be Stupid Ad Campaign

First: They evacuated Times Square again today because of a bomb scare. I'm glad everything turned out to be fine. Be careful if you are in that area!
Secondly, it is sunny and gorgeous out! YESSSS.
Too bad I have to spend most of today inside, applying to jobs and internships and writing papers and things. Next week is finals week at the New School. Que FANTASTICO.
Oh well! I've been procrastinating with things like the Diesel Be Stupid Poem Generator.
Here is my contribution:
A lot of people are contributing gems of wisdom such as this:
Haha!

I didn't like the Diesel ad campaign at first. But then I heard a story about how the founder of Diesel was told that he was stupid to want to make a new jeans brand. Well, look at it now! Fantastic. I pass the giant ads on the Diesel store windows in Union Square all the time. These two are my favorites:

What ad campaigns do you like right now?

Lady Gaga is the Reason I will fail art history

For all of you kids who don't know: last night was the Met Institute Costume Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. It is hosted by Vogue and it is fabulous. This year's theme was "The American Woman" to go with the new exhibit.  Now that that's finished, on to important things:
Is there a reason that this is the only picture I could find of Lady Gaga at the Met Ball?

What has happened to you, O Sparkly One?  First you are invited by Prada but the only picture of you shows you wearing Armani? Also, the sparkliness of your, um, skin, is clashing with the different kind of sparkliness that is on those shoes. Then, you don't walk the red carpet, because you are supposedly too busy preparing for your performance to make a fashion statement. Um, what?! Why are we accepting this excuse? Have we forgotten the Grammys already?

Case in point:

And also:

This must be some sort of elaborate plot to make us (me) wonder about here even more than we (I) already do on a daily basis. DAMN IT GAGA. Why are you doing this to me? I hate you.

Just kidding, I take it back.  Please do not stab me with your crazy pokemon spear helmet like you did to the guy sitting behind you. I love you.

In other news, I should be writing a paper about Peruvian art, but I can't because I have too much ADD. Looking at pictures of Lady Gaga's outfits REALLY does not help.
